In a first Eden Valley Sunday League season the Sunday XI claimed the title to add a ‘cherry on top’ to an already good summer for the Sundays.

The league season has completed for the Croma Vigilant Dumfries Sunday XI with the side as table toppers in the Eden Valley Sunday League.

In their inaugural season in the league the team finished with only one defeat and a draw to claim the title to add a ‘cherry on top’ to an already successful summer for the Sundays.

With an emphasis on developing the Club’s younger players, that proved productive with Sean Thornely-Kyle, James Little and Adam Malik amongst the top run scorers and others getting valuable time in the middle.

Similarly with the bowling Calum Reynolds-Lewis and Hyder Hussain were both equal second top wicket-takers and the bowlers most called upon. Max Corbett-Byers, Luke McBurnie and Sean also contributed on the bowling front as did others with, in total, sixteen bowlers used during the season.

A handful of senior players bolstered the side during the season and Danny Armstrong was the top all-rounder for his speedy interventions. In the second half of the season, weather, the World Cup and a concession or two affected the schedule but it remained a valuable first season.

Congratulations go to Andy Reed the side’s usual Captain, and to Paddy Corkery for his winning record as skipper.
