Thanks to a sterling organisational effort by Ben Hobman, Wallace Hall Academy made their first appearance in the National Secondary Schools Cup on Tuesday at Nunholm.
Glasgow High School made the trip down and thanks to some improvisation from Ben, Sam, and Callum a playing area was established with the square already heavily covered and lashed down for the impending gale and downpour.
The much more experienced visitors took important early wickets but a battling performance took the Thornhill side past forty with James Hobman making his top ever score including a six placed over the short off side boundary. Glasgow High School lost one wicket in readily chasing the total but the impressive bowlers were unlucky not to claim more and then duly did take more as the sides carried on to complete the overs.
From the club, Sean Thornley-Kyle and James, in particular, made life awkward for the batsmen and congratulations to the school for an eleven who debuted and competed well.
