News of Club Day, square renovations, junior sessions, cricket courses, a ball amnesty and cricket success for Wallace Hall School.

Saturday is Club Day
This Saturday is Club Day so we hope as many as possible will take the opportunity to drop in during the day.

On the schedule at Nunholm…
- All Stars games and certificate presentation
- Under 11/Kwik Cricket matches
- BBQ and Raffle
- Junior T20 match
- 2019 Season Awards
- Chairman’s XI v Captain’s XI
- Evening Party and Karaoke

All assistance with the activities on the day from any helpers would be much appreciated. Let us know. Thanks.

The Tennis section Club Championship Finals are also being held so it should be a busy day at the Sports Club.

Sunday Square Working Party
Wicket renovations are planned to start this week and Sunday afternoon is when some help is needed. This work is important to maintain the playing surface, involves some physical tasks and Davie and Simon will need some assistance. It will take 2-3 hours probably from midday. Contact Davie if you want to help.

Monday evening sessions concluded
Last Monday was the conclusion of the Monday evening sessions at Nunholm for the summer. So that sees the end of these particular All Stars, Kwik Cricket, U11s and CricHIIT sessions. Thanks to all the coaches and volunteers who get a September rest.

However keep an eye out for the start of our sessions over the winter. Follow us on social media or sign on to the website to get notified.

Tuesday afternoon sessions continue
The youth sessions (U13s/U15s) on Tuesday afternoons are continuing with an emphasis on developing your skills.

Courses for Coaches
Two courses for new coaches (Assistant and Level 2) are coming up in October and November. See here for details

Autumn Ball Amnesty
We are declaring another ball amnesty for all the types of balls that we use at the club - All Star balls, tennis balls, bowling machine balls, junior balls, used cricket balls, training balls and any unused match balls, etc, etc.

These can vanish at times. “Please release me, let me go “ from kit bags, cupboards or the undergrowth and let them have a useful life over the winter at our upcoming sessions.

There is big white bucket in the changing room to put them in, and fill which would be great.

Wallace Hall get a ‘Bronze Medal’

Congratulations to Wallace Hall School on finishing 3rd at the Cricket Scotland Emerging School Finals. Weather prevented the scheduled tournament finals in the summer term and they were held recently in Perth in the new school term. The eight person team included a healthy contingent from the Club. They were undefeated group winners and were only beaten by the overall winners, Perth Academy, in the semi-final. They finished with 4 wins from 5 games. Well done to the school for their support of the team and the competition and to Ben and Sam for helping to make it happen..
