Saturday league fixtures are published and start of season news.

Weekly sessions
There was a good turnout for All Stars and U11 Dynamos on Monday with some new faces. Big thanks this week to the Big Coaches, Tony, Andy, Drew, James.

Plus the start of Monday Adult starter sessions began for those fancying trying or returning to cricket. The other sessions were well frequented as well.

Growing the Club
In encouraging people to the club we know from experience that it is word of mouth that makes the biggest difference.

So if you know of someone who might enjoy themselves in one of our programmes from ages 5 upwards, or who might want to get back to playing, junior or senior, then perhaps make the suggestion to them.

e.g. Club All Stars (ages 5-8) and Dynamos Cricket (ages 8-11) official programmes can be booked here for girls and boys.

These sessions are the blocks for the start of the official National programmes. However we aim to provide more than that. So those registered may also attend the Monday All Stars and Monday u11s/Dynamos sessions underway now and until the end of the season.

Senior League Cricket
The scheduled Men's fixtures have been published by the WDCU today for the 1st XI and the 2nd XI for Saturday league cricket.

The first fixture in West Premier Division for the 1st XI, Your Move Dumfries, is on Saturday the 22nd May at home against Langside CC (formerly Weirs).

The seconds, Nunholm, have a converse fixture in the West Premier Reserve Division on the same day away against their second team, Albert Park.

Sat 22 May
Your Move Dumfries v Langside
Albert Park v Nunholm

FYI An idiosyncrasy of the league is that the 2nd XIs are named after the grounds. Hence our 2nd team is named Nunholm. In practice since we are playing the 2nds XIs of the West Premier League sides in the Premier Reserve league, if the 1sts are at home against a club then the 2nds are away against their 2nds, and vice-versa.

PS As regards that change of name from Weirs to Langside, 2020 did bring some good news for a cricket club with a transfer of the ground property to the Weirs club but with a change of club name required. See here - New season new name for weirs

Junior Scottish Cup draw
The draw took place this week. See our fixtures below, and note that the age range differs from our participating teams in the Cumbria junior leagues.

Dumfries Under-14s v Clydesdale U14s (Home)
Dumfries Under-16s v Ferguslie U16s (Away)

Representative Cricket
Well done to our junior players who have now started training again within the Cricket Scotland performance pathway. Sean with West U17s; Max with West U15s; Katy, Niamh and, for the first time, Emma with West Girls, and Orla who has been training with Scotland Women.

Start of Season Activities
In addition to our current sessions we have the following dates planned. More details to follow.

Friday 30th April, 6-7pm - Taster Girls Only Cricket Session
A session, and game, for our girl All Stars who are ready to progress and the older girls and running at the same time as our usual Friday women's session.

Saturday 1st May - Club Welcome Day and Ground Assist
An informal welcome and induction day for juniors, parents, and members across the day and whilst the outside bar is operating.

There is also an opportunity for some bits of assistance with the ground and spread across the day. We could do with a hand (distanced) around the ground with the Nets, sightscreens, sponsor signs, painting jobs, etc. e.g. [#MayDay] And you could have a well earned drink or a coffee afterwards at the outside bar!

Saturday 8th May - Junior and Senior Training Games
Training games in the middle with sides of reduced numbers.

And keep a look out, CricHIIT at Nunholm is returning, the women's fitness session with a cricket twist.

Message to Parents
Hopefully you, and your child, are registered on our website.

Could we ask you to add or check the date of birth for your child? We need this to determine which sides they may play in (we can't update this protected date information ourselves).

Also check that you have updated the other information we require; an emergency phone number (we need two contact numbers); plus the parental consent and any medical conditions that we should know about.

Junior memberships can also be sorted out online here on the website. See

Ground Work
Thanks to the work of the ground team, Simon, Davie, aided by Trefor, a number of people are commenting that the ground is looking fantastic! [Ed]

Sponsorship
We are pleased to welcome continued support from Ground Sign Sponsors, Croma Vigilant. It is much appreciated. Have a look at their services here www.cssgplc.com/divisions/croma-vigilant
