Another busy week; hosting Scotland U18s; Sunday League Champions; final summer holiday programme sessions

Club Development Officer
We are hiring now for a position of a Dumfries Cricket Club Development Officer. This is a very important step for the club and looks to build on the excellent work of our volunteers and aims to establish us further within the local community and schools and will need the full support of everyone at the club to be successful. Closing date to apply is 24 August 2022. See

Sunday League #1 Player Rankings
Appropriately Max was the top run scorer in the final Sunday XI league game AND he was also the League's top run getter. The same was the case for Harith as the top wicket taker in the game and also overall in the League. Well done both. See the Sunday League Stats HERE

Junior Cricket
Trefor organised another intra-club U13s practice match on Thursday afternoon. The match report is available HERE.

Mondays - Intro to W&G Soft Ball Cricket
We are changing on Monday evenings and are running an Introduction to Soft Ball Cricket for Women and Girls. This is from 6-6:45pm, the same time as the CricHIIT sessions which have now stopped for the summer but still with Sue and Jo leading. If the soft ball cricket at Ladies Day got you interested then definitely come along.

Midweek Friendly next Thursday
Who wants to play in a midweek friendly next Thursday (25th August) against the Health Pros? Mark your availability for the game through our website or let James know.

Final holiday daytime cricket sessions
The final holiday daytime cricket sessions on Wednesday and Thursday mornings and afternoons took place this week (for 5-8s, 9-13s, girls only, disability cricket). These were part of the "Dumfries & Galloway Amazing Summer" programme and were free to encourage starters. We hope that those who attended a session and had their first experience of cricket enjoyed themselves and will come back to Nunholm for more in future.

These were thanks to the helpers that made them happen - Jesse, Fergus, Harith, Vaughn, James, Sean, Orla and to Andy for setting up our summer holiday programme.

Our evening junior sessions continue.

Return of Trophies Please
With just a few weeks of the summer season remaining our attention turns to the Annual Club Awards. We are planning to hold a Club Day on Saturday the 10th September including friendly internal matches and a BBQ with the awards being presented at the end of the evening. More details will follow shortly.

If you received an award last year can you return your trophy to one of the following: a Team Manager, Coach or Captain or the bar staff at the Club. If these can be returned before 1 September then we have time to get the engraving completed in time for the awards ceremony.

Representative Cricket
James Hobman was helping with the Nunholm ground for the U15 Celtic Cup two weeks ago, this week he was playing in all 4 games for Scotland U17s in the U17s Celtic Cup in Bangor and Belfast. After Tuesday Ireland led 2-1 in games after James' two wickets helped gain a close T20 win in game three. And in the final game on Thursday in Belfast Scotland won the 50 over match by 94 runs (DLS) with James entrusted to open the bowling to finish the series 2-2.

Also Chris (McBride) got his third cap for Scotland in a win over UAE in the World Cup League Series taking place in Aberdeen.

Congratulations to Women's team players Lorna Jack and Hannah Rainey who have been selected for the senior Scotland side for a three match series against Ireland Women at the start of September.

Final Scotland visit for the Summer
We hosted Scotland once more in their County Cup match against Cheshire U18s last Friday. Thanks to the ground team for making it happen at short notice. A strong Cheshire side won through to the next round by 7 wickets. See https://twitter.com/DumfriesCricket/status/1557808699451887623
