Club Coaches
Watch out for our news coming soon for all of our volunteer coaches and juniors.

Congratulations to Jo, Sue, Kate, Orla on completing their Cricket Scotland female only Introduction to Cricket Coaching Course.

Cricket Scotland Updates
Recent updates from Cricket Scotland about returning to cricket activities can be read here

Train Up to Help Out
There are upcoming training courses available (free) if you wish to help out at the Club on occasions. These are starting next week, so do it now if you are going to register.

See below for details on online learning to do some umpiring, e.g. of a junior match or at a women's soft ball festival perhaps, and which includes a female only umpiring course.

You can also do an online Introduction to Cricket Coaching course. We want to encourage all new coaches.

Back to Cricket Activities at the Club
The Scottish Government guidelines on sport outside, and for cricket outside, changed last week and that meant we were able to have our first sessions on Saturday and Sunday with an encouraging turnout from our older and younger juniors.

That continues this weekend. Check the graphic here for details and the sessions we have scheduled here on the Club Website/App.

This includes sessions for All Stars (5-8), Dynamos Cricketers(9-11) and U11s, U13/U15/U18s, Women&Girls and Seniors.

Please mark your availability for each Club session on your Club App schedule. The Club uses this to enable Track and Trace and for the necessary attendance limits. Plus it greatly assists your coaches to plan.

Sponsors/Partners
We are delighted for the Club to have the support of Nith Valley Cleaning Services for Season 2021 once more. Thanks Tony.

Sports Club News
The tennis courts have turned blue. The re-surfacing has been completed and the courts are back busy again.

Squash are awaiting better news on a resumption and you can read the plea of Scottish Squash as sent to the Scottish Sports Minister here.

We encourage multiple sports for all at the club, especially for our juniors.

Sports Club members also have opportunities with junior tennis, including camps over the Easter holidays, and also with our friends at Dumfries Hockey Club. Follow Dumfries Sports Club on Facebook as well as us.

Nunholm Ground Work
The ground team (Simon, Davie, Trefor and others) have continued their hard work and the square in the middle and the outfield already looks in great condition for this time of year.

Overseas Cricket
The cricket seasons down under are coming to their conclusion, and that included one of our overseas players in 2018 Andrew (Mascall) captaining the New Zealand opening pace bowler Trent Boult (ask Cory). This was in his Cadets Club game at the weekend. Boult took 5 wickets whilst Andrew was worrying about a rapid catch coming to him at third slip.

And pleased to hear of runs on the pitch recently for Adam in his soujourn at the Abdul Qadir Cricket Academy in Pakistan with an innings of 45.

Congratulations to Aussie Spin-Twin Declan (an overseas player in 2019) who "was the deserved winner of the Old Boys achievement award for his efforts on and off the field in the last 12 months at Murwillumbah Cricket Club."

DCC on Zoom
Many thanks to Andy for organising and being quizmaster for the recent online Club Friday Quizzes which took place over several weeks. A healthy number of people dropped in to a Quiz and included the Scotland Men's Head Coach Shane Burger from hotel quarantine in the one last week. He did remarkably well on the subject of his home country of South Africa (and on another topic!?).

Thanks also to Lisa for her Sunday online fitness sessions. Some of us might actually be less stiff and that bit stronger now!

And the Women and Girls managed to get out in their Escape Room event with Callander Women for their first win of the season. They were - "chaotic but awesome"!
