It may be November but there is a lot still going on from social events to upcoming cricket sessions.

It may be November but there is a lot still going on.

Quiz Night
The second Dumfries CC Winter Social takes place this Friday evening, the 8th Nov at the clubhouse with another Quiz Night hosted by Stuart and starting at 7. We very much hope that you can come along and join in.

Indoor Women’s and Girls’ Soft Ball Cricket
We are having a fun Girls Get Together on Friday evening, the 22 November, at the St Joseph's Sport Hall for some soft ball games and activities, a "Girls Night In". All ages, and abilities, are invited from mothers, daughters, sisters and the All Stars too. Rosy has volunteered to help lead the session.

We have had a lot of girls and women participating at Club sessions this year, from CricHIIT sessions to Soft Ball and Kwik Cricket, junior and senior matches and the girls at All Stars, so we would like them all to get to know each other a bit better.

Xmas Party
More social news - the Sports Club Xmas Party is taking place on Saturday the 30th November. So it is time to dust off your Santa hat.

Representative Cricket
It is the time of year representative cricket sessions start up for the winter. Good luck to those going to West U14, U16, U16 Girls trials. Adam and Orla have already started with their first Scotland sessions in Edinburgh as part of the Cricket Scotland National Performance Pathway ‘skill set’ Programme. Congratulations to them for being invited.

Club Committee Meeting
The October committee meeting took place last week with discussions and planning for the AGM on the 6th December and for the winter and next season.

Cricket Club AGM
The Cricket Club AGM, and a Club meal, takes place on Friday the 6th December. We very much need people to attend to help steer the club and to say what they need and want from the Club.

PS the Tennis and Squash section AGMs are also coming up shortly in November as well.

Saturday Junior Net Training
With the clocks change the Tuesday after-school net sessions at Nunholm have ceased and have moved to Saturday mornings - U13s 11am-12, U15s/U18s 12-1pm. This is free since it is covered by the fee for club junior training.

All Star and Kwik Cricket Mondays
Our Monday night sessions for the younger juniors started after the October Holidays at St Joseph's Sports Hall 5-6pm. All Stars (5-8) alternate with the Kwik Cricketers (8-11ish) with soft ball games and activities (and maybe diving catching!). £1 a session and the All Stars are back on Monday.

Work on the Square
Work is still continuing on the square (the very green bit in the middle) for next season with cutting, spraying and all the dark arts for wicket preparation.

Cricket Scotland Club Child Wellbeing and Protection Policy Support
There is a course for Child Protection Officers to provide guidance and support to Clubs about the Cricket Scotland Club Child Wellbeing and Protection Policy on Wednesday evening the 20th November at the Clubhouse.

Congratulations Rosy
Some development news - career development. Congratulations to Rosy (Ryan) who has been promoted and appointed Cricket Scotland's new Women's and Girls Development Manager. That is a credit to her hard work and enthusiasm and remarkable for someone without a traditional cricket background. And some of us can remember her coming over to the nets eight years ago with Kirsty (Strachan) to be given her first introduction to the game!

Good Luck on Friday
There are juniors at West U14 trials up in Glasgow; Orla has been nominated for a Sports Person Award at the DG Life Magazine Awards tomorrow; Sue, and others, are at the Scottish Women in Sport Awards for Cricket Scotland where CricHIIT has been nominated for Innovation in Sport; and some of us need a bit of luck at Stuart's Quiz Night.
