Firsts are at home on Saturday against Uddingston and Disability Sport sessions commenced here at the cricket club.

What has been happening? Quite a lot has been happening behind the scenes.

Games this weekend
Saturday Afternoon - 1s play Uddingston at home (12 pm League)
Sunday Morning - U11s away at Workington (Cup)
Sunday Morning - Women's Wee Bash Soft Ball Tournament at Uddingston
Sunday Afternoon - IntraClub Sunday Match (1pm)

Note the intra-club match on Sunday afternoon which is an opportunity for everyone to get in some more cricket this weekend.

Fixture issues: The Friday U13s away match was cancelled by the opposition due to a lack of adult support. Unfortunately we have again cancelled our 2s game on Saturday due to holiday availability and isolation issues. There is no W&G Softball Sunday at Nunholm due to our hoped for opposition not being available to attend. We are playing Wee Bash cricket away at Uddingston instead. The Sunday XI home game is postponed with the Euro finals. The U15s game at home on Monday is cancelled.

The team and match managers, and parents, need a drink which is available currently in the Sports Club Bar by the way.

Andy - "Unfortunately there will be no 2s fixture this week, due to low availability, which hopefully will end this week as we see people return from holidays and isolation, along with a new crop of players who have gained valuable experience on Sundays."

Our All Stars resumed on Monday
After a Monday break the previous week, All Stars, U11s Dynamos, and CricHIIT sessions resumed on Monday evening with healthy numbers for each. Hope to see everyone who is back from holidays this Monday.

Scottish Representative Cricket
Max played in the Scotland under-15s trial match on Sunday and his batting efforts, opening the batting with a twenty plus score, aided his selection as a team reserve for their series of upcoming matches. Watch out for the Scotland u15s coming to play at Nunholm on the 22/28/29 July.

Sean played for the Western Warriors under-17s in their two-day regional match at Ayr. Orla took two wickets for the Scotland Women's Performance Academy against the Northern Diamonds Academy at Alnwick and features in the Women's Super Series on Sunday at Arbroath. The two sides involved are from a series squad of the top 26 players from around Scotland.

Former junior and player Chris McBride played for Scotland A against Durham County 2nd XI in their two-day match, and it was good to see him dropping in at the senior training on Thursday for a hit.

The dates for the upcoming Scotland U15 (July) and Scotland u17s (August) matches that we are hosting at Nunholm can be found here https://www.dumfriescricketclub.com/teams/223277/fixtures-results

It is a reason one side of the sight screens are turning black in preparation for these white-ball fixtures.

Reports for last weekend
Match reports are online on the website at the match centres for; an abandoned match for the 1s; a fiesty friendly for the 2s and a penultimate over loss for the Sunday XI.

1st XI away at Stirling - www.dumfriescricketclub.com/teams/121870/match-centre/0-5011580/report

2nd XI v Langloan -www.dumfriescricketclub.com/teams/121966/match-centre/0-5011608/report

Sunday XI v Carlisle -www.dumfriescricketclub.com/teams/123618/match-centre/1-8968329/report

The Women's Wee Bash at Galloway on Sunday was called off due to dodgy weather. The final Women's Premier league match in Edinburgh was cancelled due to Covid infections at our school opposition. The U15s game away on Monday was cancelled. The 2nds game was not a league match because rain meant we started over half-an-hour late. And we might have missed a cancellation somewhere along on the way.

Development Activities
Weekly disability sport sessions started at Nunholm on Thursday with multi-sport activities from D&G Disability Sport. Next Thursday with our support it is Disability Cricket .

We are continuing with W&G cricket sessions at Thornhill MUGA on Wednesday evenings with the promising numbers who have been coming along. So if you know someone who might be interested let them, and us, know. A game for Thornhill Thunder is in the planning stages.

Home COVID Testing
In view of the number of local cases we would encourage players to be extra vigilant, especially those who are travelling to away matches, and to take a home rapid home covid test on the Thursday or Friday before the weekend fixtures. You can order home testing kits free from this link below.

Can we ask that people order kits for themselves? We are not insisting and only encouraging,
