Xmas prizes and fund raising while online shopping; tennis court work started; and runs for Adam abroad

EasyFundraising for Xmas
We use this fund raising site to raise funds for the club juniors when people are doing some online shopping.

Up to Christmas you can enter their daily advent competition to win a prize for yourself and a donation for the club. It is free and no online shopping is required, just a couple of clicks. The top prize is a £2,000 donation to the club AND £2,000 for you to spend at John Lewis & Partners.

Of course, you can also use easyfundraising.org.uk when you do any online Christmas shopping this year. Over 4,300 shops and sites will donate to Dumfries Cricket Club for FREE when you use easyfundraising to shop with them.

Join here www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/dumfriescc

And a big shout out to our best easyfundraiser Dave (Lightfoot) who has used the easyfundraising site to help the club with well over two hundred pounds raised now, and counting.

Sports Club News
Tennis Courts unavailable
The tennis courts are being re-surfaced and this major work started on Tuesday so, of course, the courts are not available for use for a while. We will let you know when.

Junior squash and racketball permitted
Squash and racketball for two juniors together (U18s) is permitted under Scottish Squash guidance. So our cricket juniors can play a game now.

Using the Gym
Don't forget as an adult you are still able to use the club gym. A maximum of two people may use the gym at the same time and you will need to book your place here (and follow the gym COVID guidance).

And gym times are changing, so people will be able to book the gym for a time period between 30 minutes to 75 minutes.

Plus we are working on other opportunities to be active at Dumfries Sports Club. Keep an eye on social media.

Winter Cricket Sessions
There was another good effort last Saturday morning for the youth and u13s sessions (the former England Women's coach on twitter 'Liked' your commitment), and this was also the case for the women and girls soft ball session with a high scoring 6-side game on Sunday.

And it still looks dry for the weekend. All these sessions use the net training area.
U15s/Youth Sessions - Saturday mornings, 10am-11:30
U13s Sessions - Saturdays Morning, 11:30-13:00pm
Women and Girls - Sunday mornings, 11am-12:30
You can contact the club about our Women and Girls cricket by emailing our email address - womenscricket@dumfriescricketclub.com .

Our All Stars(5-8) and Dynamos(9-11) midday soft ball Saturday sessions outdoors are paused whilst the tennis courts are re-surfaced.

Overseas cricket
Pakistan
News from Lahore. Young Adam Malik is up and running with a score of 85 in his first game over in Pakistan at the Abdul Qadir Cricket Academy, which is a top effort from Adam in a very new environment. A brief video of him there nailing a cover drive in practice is also attached to this article.

Australia
Well done to Josh (Geary) who took wickets as part of the Newcastle team in the NSW Country Championships held at the weekend on the Central Coast. The side qualified for the final of the McDonald’s Country Championship against Riverina which is to be played in the new year. Meanwhile at his club, Merewether CC in NSW, matches were called off on Sunday due to heat!

And on the first day of the advent calendar we think we spotted Declan (played here in 2018) a'leaping in this bowling photo from Murwillumbah Cricket Club last weekend.
