The Club were saddened to hear of the recent passing of David Duncan. David played for the club for a few seasons in the 1980s and joined in on the club's tours down south of that time. However he was more associated with cricket at Gatehouse as the club there was known at that time and he is recalled as a hard hitting batsman.

Legend has it that he was the one of the first adopters of a helmet on the field of play, or more accurately of a hockey goalkeeping mask which was supposed to be seen in the old Gatehouse pavilion.

Of more significance to the club and to cricket locally, is that he was the first Cricket Development Officer working in Dumfries & Galloway, as the South West Scotland Cricket Development Officer, which resulted in the likes of Jim Patterson coming to cricket and to the club. The most obvious results from his work were the formation of midweek league teams in Dalbeattie and Kirkcudbright and the formation of a Sunday Kirkcudbright club.

After that time he became involved at Uddingston CC and was very significant in the development of their ground, square, clubhouse and players and the Uddingston club has posted their own tribute here.

Our condolences go to his family and friends.
