In Western Premiership One on Saturday, Vigilant Dumfries posted a total of 131 at Stenhousemuir. That was after Dumfries were 76 for 1 wicket, and then 95 for 2, after Adam Malik, with 24, and opener Wahid Jabarkhil, with 43, and had got their side into that promising position. Number five Ben Plowman scored 22 whilst the side struggled against the introduction of spin with left-armer Grant taking four wickets. Stenhousemuir then managed an easy chase, losing only one wicket to Chris Brockwell, as they readily reached their winning target. The NexGen Driver Training Player of the Match for Dumfries was Jabarkhil for his top score.

At home, in Western Championship Two , Dumfries 2nd XI, Nunholm, reached 200 for 8 in the forty overs in a final wicket finish against Stenhousemuir 2nds. That was after four wickets had fallen cheaply and required a fifty-run partnership between Stuart and Max Corbett-Byers to restore the innings. A further near seventy run seventh-wicket partnership with James Cox ended when the senior Corbett-Byers was out for 86, an innings which included eleven fours and five sixes and merited the Axl Menlove Roofing Player of the Match award for Nunholm. After his hitting, a score of 30 by Cox aided by 15 not out by Finley Trigg got Nunholm up to the two hundred.

The second innings started with a similar pattern with early wickets from Cox and Trigg leaving the visitors at 13 for 3. That brought in number five Hollis who became the difference between the sides. Nunholm continued to take wickets to take it to 90 for 7 but frustrating partnerships followed with Hollis providing the runs. Lamb eventually got the ninth wicket with the score on 193, but that was too late as Hollis hit two boundaries to reach 126 not out in just 89 balls for a one wicket win, and with no other batter scoring more than ten.

In the Sunday league, Dumfries beat visitors Lanercost. Adam Malik took four wickets as the visitors were dismissed for 146. Then a near century opening stand by the Kamran brothers plus a not out 26 by Mat Williams took Dumfries through to a seven-wicket win.

This week, Jasmine McCulloch has been playing on tour for Scotland Emerging Girls with games against Ireland, Leicestershire and Worcestershire, and Macey Corbett-Byers has been selected for Scotland U15s Girls to play a series against the Netherlands next week.

On Saturday, the 1st team, Vigilant Dumfries, play at Ferguslie in Western Premiership One. The 2nd team, Nunholm, play Ferguslie 2nds at home in Western Championship 2.
