On Saturday, the two Dumfries teams managed to achieve two wins against the two Langside sides sitting top in their respective leagues.

The 1st team, Vigilant Dumfries, made it three wins from three with a very close 4-run victory, with four balls left in the final over, playing at Langside in Glasgow. Dumfries batted first and set a total of 211 thanks to another fifty from Chris Bellwood, with 61, 58 by Lachlan Friend and twenties for opener Munro Cubbon and Callum Reynolds-Lewis in the two biggest partnerships of the innings.

For the course of the Langside innings that total seemed too low as they got off to a good start at 95 for no wicket. However, spinner Callum Reynolds-Lewis started the comeback with his four wickets and a novel bowling pairing of Chris Bellwood and Robert McBride each took two wickets in the final overs for what was a very tense finish to follow online. The Jardine Funeral Player of the Match was awarded to Chris Bellwood for his all-round match winning efforts.

The 2nd team, Nunholm, had a more comfortable but equally good win against Langside 2nds at home. The visitors were pegged back to a score of 178 all out with Ross Lamb and Pat Druce each taking three wickets and youngster Finley Trigg two wickets. Opener Wahid Jabarkhil notched up a second consecutive fifty with a swashbuckling 69 to set up the chase and a Dawson father and son seventy-run unbeaten partnership took the team to a six wicket win with Drew Dawson 36 not out and Cory 31 not out. The Nith Valley Cleaning Player of the Match went to Ross Lamb for his three wickets to remove the run scorers in the Langside middle order and keep the target in range.

There was also a win in the West T20 Rowan Cup for Vigilant Dumfries on Thursday evening at Drumpellier in another last over finish, winning by 3 wickets chasing 147 for 5. Opener Chris Bellwood was unbeaten on 77 not out but it required a sixty run sixth-wicket partnership with Nairn Cubbon, with 27, to get over the line.

On Saturday, Vigilant Dumfries play at Mearns in Western Premiership 2 and the second team, Nunholm, play at home against Hamilton Crescent in Western Championship 2.
