Carlton set a challenging total of 140 for 7 wickets in the T20 match. However, the Dumfries bowlers pulled things back after a good Carlton start of 79 for 1 with Finley Trigg and Cory Dawson each claiming two wickets and one each for Billy Morgan, Munro Cubbon and Edward Ellicott. Then a mature batting performance followed with Munro top scoring with 53 retired, opener Lachlan Osmond with 41, plus a swift 16 by Billy, for an excellent team 7 wicket victory completed with just four balls left.
In Western Premiership One on Saturday, Vigilant Dumfries faced a big total at Drumpellier of 295 for 2. Dumfries finished well short in reply on 148 all out with Munro Cubbon the Braidwoods Player of the Match as top scorer with 26.
In Western Championship Two, Dumfries 2nd XI lost a well contested match to Anniesland at home by 4 wickets. Crichton Partners Player of the Match Billy Morgan scored his first 2nd team fifty with 62 aided by 43 by Pat Druce in a Nunholm total of 167 for 8. A sixth wicket partnership, involving two fifties, then won the game for the visitors despite James Cox's three early wickets reducing the visitors to 36 for 4.
The Dumfries Sunday XI lost their league encounter at Penrith by 2 wickets. Dumfries set a total of 138 for 7 with Mat Williams contributing 33 and Cory Dawson 23. Late wickets made the finish interesting, but Penrith chased successfully after two wickets each to Learmont & Sims Player of the Match Macey Corbett-Byers, and Winston Osmond and Aiden Goodin.
