Dumfries U16s moved into the U16 Scottish Cup Quarter-Finals with a good 7 wicket team win over Clydesdale U16s at home on Sunday. After a solid start, reaching 68 for 1, Clydesdale were restricted to 99 for 7 in the 20 overs with the wickets shared between Finley Trigg, Munro Cubbon, Jasmine McCulloch, Nairn Cubbon, with two, and Billy Morgan. In reply, the dismissal of Munro Cubbon for 18 left Dumfries at 32 for 3. Then a match-winning seventy-run fourth wicket partnership, from Billy Morgan and the Dumfries Lions Club Player of the Match, Nairn Cubbon, both not out on 39 and 35 respectively, took Dumfries past the target with just three wickets down and six overs to spare.

In Western Premiership One at Nunholm on Saturday, visitors Kelburne batted first against Vigilant Dumfries and put together a score of 194 all out, with an innings of 63 from opener MacLean the most significant contribution. Barbours Player of the Match, Chris Brockwell, took his wicket, bowled, and claimed a total of four wickets to be the top wicket taker, ahead of James Hobman and Callum Reynolds-Lewis with two each. In reply, the Dumfries batting line-up struggled with Fergus Bainbridge the top scorer with 23, that and a late order partnership by Munro and Nairn Cubbon, who both scored in the twenties, took Dumfries to their final total of 110 all out, well short of their target.

In Western Championship Two, first placed Dumfries 2nd XI, Nunholm, reached 113 all out at Renfrew 2nds, the team in second spot, with a number of batsmen scoring into the teens but no further. Scott Muir held the innings together with the top score and the tail wagged to almost double the score. The Happy Faces Nursery Player of the Match, James Cox, then took three wickets to contain Renfrew to 62 for 3 but a fifty-run 4th wicket partnership took the home side to a seven wicket win.

Former Dumfries club junior Chris McBride is with Scotland Men this week for the World Cup Qualification tournament in the Netherlands, with their final match on Friday, as Scotland seek to qualify for the T20 World Cup Finals.
