In the final fixture in Western Championship Two on Saturday, Nunholm lost at home to leaders GHK Strathclyde to miss out on moving into second place and to finish fourth in the final league table.

Nunholm were put in to bat and were unable to capitalise on a position of 63 for 2. Captain Andrew Dawson top scored with 39 in a low Dumfries total as the side reached 116 all out and, in the process, consolidated his position as the 2nds leading run scorer for the season, and also claim The Holywood Trust Player of the Match Award.

Nunholm started well to have the visitors at 30 for 3 wickets, but 48 not out from opener Ali took them to their winning target. Wickets were shared amongst the Nunholm bowlers with two to James Cox and one each for juniors Finley Trigg, Lachlan Osmond and Cory Dawson, aided by good catches by Osmond, Lamb and Dawson. However, that could not prevent the win for GHK Strathclyde, by five wickets, with just not enough runs to defend. The side finished with ten wins in a commendable campaign with valuable first experiences of Saturday league cricket for the younger members of the team.

At the Dumfries Cricket Club Awards which followed, the Dumfries Club Players of the Year were - for Vigilant Dumfries 1st XI, Adam Malik; Nunholm 2nd XI, Sultan Kamran; Youth, Lachlan Osmond; Junior, Edward Ellicott; Women, Jasmine McCulloch. In particular, all those that participated in the special Dumfries U16s Scottish Cup run win were recognised with deserved individual trophies.

Also celebrated was the selection of sixteen-year-old Nairn Cubbon in the Scotland Men's U19 Winter Training Squad. He joins their preparations for the upcoming U19 World Cup early next year in Zimbabwe and Namibia. It was a notable weekend for his twin brother, Munro, as well who succeeded in hitting the winning runs, off the last ball of a super-over, for a West Select versus an East Select representative match at Ayr, after a match changing direct hit run out in the field and earlier contributing 21 not out. Jasmine McCulloch also played her first game for Scotland 'A' Women on Saturday in a pathway game and her battling batting partnership helped the side recover from 44 for 5 to an eventual convincing win.
