In Western Championship 2, Dumfries 2nd XI, Nunholm, moved up a place to second with a 5-wicket win over Anniesland on a day fixtures in the west were largely cancelled due to rain.

Their match at home was delayed and was reduced to 25 overs-a-side with the Glasgow Accies 2nd team asked to bat first at Nunholm. A large total seemed in prospect as the openers helped bring up the century in the 14th over for the loss of just one wicket. However, the Nunholm bowlers then successfully managed to restrict Anniesland to a final total of 150 all out. James Cox and Sultan Kamran were instrumental with each taking three wickets, aided by a further three run-outs in the closing overs.

Openers Kamran and Patrick Obank got the home side off to a fast start and brought the required run rate down and the match winning 4th-wicket eighty-run family partnership was between Andrew and Cory Dawson. Cory scored 26 and the skipper, and the Walker & Sharpe Player of the Match, Dawson reached his fifty with a boundary in the penultimate over to seal a 5-wicket victory.

In Western Premiership 2, the Dumfries 1st team, Vigilant Dumfries had their fixture at Helensburgh cancelled.

However, during the week Dumfries 1st team player, Munro Cubbon had a good outing with Scotland U17s in their matches with Derbyshire in the ECB Cup. He top scored with 63 opening the batting in the 50-over fixture and hit a six to win, and 38 not out, for a win off the second-last ball in a tense T20 encounter. And Macey Corbett-Byers marked her selection for the Scotland Emerging Girls team by hitting 41 not out in the Cricket Scotland U16 Girls 2-team Regional Series in an Eagles win over the Cricket Scotland Stormers on Saturday at Dollar.

There is more Scotland pathway cricket this week in Dumfries with Scotland U16 Boys playing at Nunholm in their ECB Cup games against Lancashire and Cheshire on Wednesday and Thursday.

On Saturday, in Western Premiership Two, the Dumfries first team, third placed Vigilant Dumfries, play at Greenock who are in sixth spot. In Western Championship Two, Dumfries 2nd XI, Nunholm, who are in second place, play bottom side Greenock 2nds at home, and, on Sunday, holders Dumfries U16s welcome Ferguslie in the U16 Scottish Cup.
