In Western Championship Two, the Dumfries 2nd XI, Nunholm, came through at home for a close two-wicket win against East Kilbride 2nds when chasing their total of 181 for 9. Muirhead Electrical Player of the match Ross Lamb took three wickets and Finley Trigg and Sultan Kamran also took two each. It took a team effort to get the runs with Andrew Reed the top scorer for Nunholm with his innings of 37. At the top of the order Wahid Jabarkhil hit 29 and in the latter stages Winston Osmond contributed a vital 30. That win meant that the side remain top and unbeaten in Championship Two.
In Western Premiership One, Vigilant Dumfries lost at Ayr by six wickets as the home side successfully chased a Dumfries total of 134. The Nexgen Driver Training Player of the Match was Ben Plowman for the side's top score with 41 not out. Batting at six he was instrumental in adding a further fifty runs for the final two wickets. Alan Davidson had good figures of 3 for 26 to take Ayr wickets in their reply but the home side comfortably reached their winning target for four down.
After reaching the U16 Scottish Cup semi-final last season, the Dumfries U16s reached the next stage of this year's T20 competition with an 8 wicket win over East Renfrewshire at home on Sunday. The bowlers kept the visitors to 104 for 6 with Lachlan Osmond taking the first two wickets after a useful opening partnership. Finley Trigg bowled another, and Nairn Cubbon managed three run outs in the closing overs. Then a big opening partnership by Bill Middlemiss and Osmond settled the course of the match. They could not quite complete the task with Middlemiss bowled for 38 with the score on 86. Osmond was also bowled for 34 and Munro Cubbon hurried to the winning target with 15 not out.
Also on Sunday, Dumfries won by 22 runs in the Eden Valley Sunday League at Wigton. They set a total of 181 for 4 in a reduced 28 over match. Liam Renou top scored with an innings of 54 retired. Sultan Kamran and Adam Malik each took two wickets as Wigton finished on 159 for 7 in reply.
On Saturday, the 1st team, Vigilant Dumfries, play Clydesdale at home in Western Premiership One. The 2nd team, Nunholm, play at East Renfrewshire 2nds in Western Championship 2.
