We hosted the Cricket Scotland Beyond Boundaries Wee Bash, involving Women and Girls soft ball cricket, here on Sunday morning.

Four teams took part; Dumfries, Galloway, Prestwick and a mixed side from these teams made up the South West Scorchers. Each team played four games and that included two games with a super-over to decide tied matches between Prestwick and Galloway and lastly Prestwick and Dumfries.

Emily and Amy ensured a win in game one against Prestwick with Emily retiring once past 30 after a slew of boundaries as the highest total of the day for the team of 68 was reached with Amy also scoring in the 20s. The Scorchers were next but Jasmine and Kirsty bashed too many boundaries for them chasing a lower total than that scored in game one. And the virtues of hitting the stumps meant that the side's total was on the decline as Galloway readily chased their target down in game three.

Galloway and Scorchers faced off in the Final and Prestwick and Dumfries played again in game four. This time the teams tied on a total of 48 after an exciting finish with Dumfries needing eight off the last over. Ginny was the top batter this time and was not out. A super-over decider followed and with Emily and Amy batting the side were just one run short chasing 18 off the one super-over.

Fortunately the weather was kind and it was a first for Sarwad, Prisca and for Marium (after just two weeks playing) who all did well in their first ever game and experienced team cricket for the first time. Amy channelled the Anderson cricketing genes with her batting and bowling. Ginny discovered the disconcerting high and lows of batting and finished with her highest score and took one of the rare catches offered. Emily showed she still liked to hit the ball a long way and Jo contributed to the South West Scorchers team effort as they reached the final.

Well done to those that were able to come and play, several for the first time, and we hope that everyone enjoyed themselves.
