In an extraordinary fight-back Your Move Dumfries beat Stirling County by 1 run in the West Premier League at Nunholm on Saturday. Tommy McGrath starred in that late recovery taking 4 wickets plus a direct hit run out in the last over to win the game and the Farries, Kirk & McVean Player of the Match.

His wickets meant that Stirling lost 7 wickets for 27 runs in a dramatic batting collapse from being in a dominant winning position and to the astonishment of those at the ground and those watching the match streamed live online.

Stirling were chasing a healthy Dumfries total of 254 for 9 and their acknowledged strong top order set them on course but Scott Beveridge slowed them down by bowling both in-form openers, Tweedie (26) and Dunford (54), for 106 for 2. Then McMullen and Sahare looked to be settling the outcome, though Jesse Smit did remove McMullen lbw for 47 with just under ninety needed. However Stirling cruised to needing just 29 runs to win off 69 balls with 7 wickets left.

Then Sahare tried to repeat his previous ball six off youngster James Hobman but found Beveridge at long-on in front of the clubhouse to be caught for 59 and the Stirling defences were breached. McGrath took a wicket bowled in the next over, and also in his next. Keeper Bainbridge caught his third wicket and McGrath's lbw in the 48th over, followed by an Alan Davidson wicket caught behind in the 49th, set up a dramatic final over to be bowled by Hobman. Four to win. Amazingly just one wicket now left.

Two runs off the first ball meant one run to tie, two to win, but a scurried next ball attempted single was not quick enough to beat a direct hit run out by McGrath for a well celebrated Dumfries win by one run.

In the Dumfries innings, where every run subsequently proved valuable, opener Scott Beveridge top scored with 69 and Jesse Smit with 66 not out, batting at number 5, ensured nearly 150 runs were added in the second half of the innings and hit 3 sixes in the process. Chris Bellwood scored 28 and Alan Davidson added a run-a-ball 29 in the latter stages as wickets tumbled in the search for runs for the final winning total, just, of 254 for 9.

Your Move Dumfries are away on Saturday at Kelburne as they look to consolidate their rise to fourth place in the Western Premier League.
