1s lost to leaders Prestwick

Dumfries had a bad day at the office in their Premier League match with league leaders Prestwick on Saturday. Prestwick batted first and scored a challenging 266 for 6. After an early wicket by Alan Davidson they were set on course with the biggest partnership of the match between Chaudhary and overseas player Van Dyk. They raised the score to 141 for 1 before Chaudhary was caught by keeper Bainbridge off the bowling of Bellwood for 80. Bainbridge held another off the bowling of Brockwell in the 190s and immediately Bellwood had Van Dyk caught in the deep for 65. However the platform had been set and Prestwick hurried to their final total of 266.

Dumfries lost a wicket first ball and then found themselves at 37 for 4. The only stand of substance was between Adam Malik (21) and Drew Dawson (22) but after them wickets fell regularly for a total of just 92 with Akbar and Chaudhary taking three wickets each. Prestwick remain as leaders, but level on wins with Ferguslie, with three league rounds to go.
