In Western Premiership 2, third placed Dumfries 1st XI, Vigilant Dumfries, won their home encounter against fifth placed Stirling County by five wickets. The visitors were asked to bat first and at one point were progressing well at 98 for 1. However the introduction of spin stalled that progress. Chris Brockwell then removed two wickets, and Callum Reynolds-Lewis took 4 wickets for just 23 runs, including the opposition skipper who was the top scorer with an innings of 78. Tommy McGrath followed up with his two wickets and Stirling were reduced to a final total of 168 all out.
The Dumfries top three all contributed with scores from Chris Bellwood (18), Munro Cubbon (28) and when Lachlan Friend was caught for 23 Dumfries had, in their turn, reached 98 for 4. From there Ronan Dunbar and Max Corbett-Byers turbo-charged the response. Dunbar was eventually out for 52, which included 48 runs all scored in boundaries to claim the Mogerleys Butchers Player of the Match award. Corbett-Byers was also faster than a run-a-ball in hitting his 32 not out to take Dumfries to a five wicket win. Defeat for the two sides above them in the Premiership, Kilmarnock and Uddingston, narrowed the gap to the top two places.
