Sean was the James Frew Player of the Match in a ten wicket win at Drumpellier.

Nunholm travelled to Langholm on Saturday and with rain in the air it looked like a delayed start. However that passed over and on a green wicket Captain Cox decided to put the opposition in.

After a couple of loose wide deliveries both opening bowlers got into their stride, with both looking dangerous, Cox with his extra bounce and Sean Thornley beating the outisde edge. Cox was first to strike getting one to lift to Khawaja who gloved it behind to keeper Mat Williams. Sean was in the action next over getting Sevada well caught by Cox at mid-on of a ball that was travelling.

Cox continued to trouble the batsman and picked up a further 2 wickets during his ten over spell, while Hyder Hussain was first change and was unlucky not to get a wicket from his five overs. With the fielding restrictions changed the leg spin of Aiden Goodin was introduced. He started off with great control and was quickly picking up regular wickets, getting the set batsman Iqbal well caught by Hyder Hussian and taking another 2 wickets bowled and was also unlucky not to pick up the dangerous Fhad, dropped by Cox in the deep.

Callum Reynolds-Lewis had replaced Cox from the golf course end and was bowling with good control with no reward, Fhab was nearing his fifty when Sean Thornley was reintroduced and bowled him. Reynolds-Lewis picked up a deserved wicket, with Sean Thornley taking an excellent catch at mid-on, before Sean closed out the innings with another wicket with Aziz chipping to Cox at mid-on the next over. Langloan all out for 121 after 35.3 overs.

With a low total it was important that both openers, Mat Williams and Sam Thornley took their time and saw off the opening bowlers. With regular extras Nunholm were able to keep the scoreboard ticking without needing to take any risks. Khawaja was bowling a very good line and tested both openers nerve. Sam was fortunate on a couple of occasions, dropped by the keeper and at slip.

After changes in bowlers the run rate increased with Sam being the aggressor hitting 3 fours and one 6 in his innings while Mat continued to turn over the strike to score at a good rate. Langloan tried everything to get the breakthrough and tried nine bowlers, even the wicket keeper came on. Unfortunately due to some wayward bowling the extras were mounting up (40 by the close of innings) so both openers were left unable to register a 50 with Sam finishing on 44 and Mat on 37 to chase down the target in 26.2 overs.

Nunholm won by 10 wickets with the James Frew Ltd Player of the Match awarded to Sean Thornley who took 2 catches and 3 wickets, including the key wicket of the top scorer.

Nunholm welcome Dean Park next Saturday, when it is 'Gentleman's Day' with players rolling back the years, and raiding the charity shops for their cravats!
