In the West Second Division, Dumfries 2nds, Nunholm, were defeated by 33 runs at Stirling by Hamilton Crescent. That was despite the Bob Murray Bookkeeping Player of the Match Award going to an outstanding performance by Sean Thornely with both bat and ball.
Hamilton Crescent batted first and although they lost wickets to Callum Reynolds-Lewis in his first and third overs they owed their total to 62 from opener Mirza and in particular a 72 by Mallick batting at seven. Thornely started with a wicket first ball and when Vaughn Staples also started with a wicket in his first over the West of Scotland side were 88 for 5. Hyder Hussain also dismissed Mirza but a seventh wicket stand took the total past two hundred as the Dumfries side searched for another wicket. That did come with the re-introduction of Thornely to the attack as he removed Mallick and cleaned up the tail for figures for 5 for 47 in a Hamilton Crescent total of 228 all out.
That target did seem in sight as a second wicket partnership between opener Mat Williams and Sean Thornely took the response past a hundred after twenty overs before Williams was out for 30. A partnership followed between Thornely and Oliver Barnard but crucially Sean was the first of Machana's four wickets, out for an excellent run-a-ball innings of 76, for 146 for 4. After that the side struggled to sustain significant partnerships and were all out with eight overs left for a total of 195.
