The second team, Nunholm, won by 6 wickets against Galloway to claim the Jerry Teale Memorial Trophy which is played for between the two clubs. There were good debut performances by Western Warriors U15 players Finley Trigg, who took 2 wickets to help restrict the visitors to 90 for 9 wickets, for whom Taylor top scored with 37, and Lachlan Osmond who saw the side through to a win with a top score of 19 not out in a successful fifth wicket partnership with Liam Renou. Also on his debut, Bill Middlemiss soon claimed his first senior catch behind the stumps off the bowling of Ross Lamb.
Sultan Kamran and Wahid Jabarkhil provided the impetus for the successful run chase with a rapid opening 38-run partnership. However, Galloway’s Mackenzie Sharples provided the play of the day with a terrific boundary catch to deny the free-flowing Kamran another boundary.
On Saturday, in their first league encounters, the first team Vigilant Dumfries, are away at Kelburne in Western Premiership One and the second team, Nunholm, are at home to Renfrew 2s in Western Championship Two.
