The Dumfries under-11s'ish got on the pitch at last with their first game on Saturday at Nunholm.
Thanks to team supremo Drew, the internal match-up got everyone involved with a a game of soft-ball pairs cricket. The now regular Monday evening training sessions had obviously polished up some rusty skills and they were on show as fours and some sixes followed.
Nairn and Sarah bowled accurately. There were good all round performances by Hannah and Cory. Billy had a direct hit run-out. On loan player Sean hit a remarkable fifty. Lachlan bowled some lovely inswing and Munro hit his first ever 6.
The coach's highlight was the excellent slip catch by Jacob, "which is quite rare to see in junior cricket".
Plus there were great 'debuts' from Bethan, Ruth and Heather and thanks to Winston for helping out.
We go again next Saturday, same time (11am), same place.
