Blasters win at Lanercost

A good all-round team effort from the team resulted in a win at Lanercost and with good performances on debut by Daniel, Keyaan, and Jack.

And Keyaan got the Coach's award for the highlight of the game with a full length dive to his left to take a caught and bowled wicket. It rivalled Tom McBride's great diving catch for the first team on Saturday! All round the fielding was really good with five run outs, helped by Jack's accurate throwing in to the keeper.

Gregor won the toss for the Dumfries side at Lanercost and after examining the wicket set his batters the task of setting a challenging total. He lead from the front opening up with Daniel and set the tone for the team's tactic of effective run scoring plus avoiding unnecessary dismissals. Neither was out and each Dumfries batting pair were to boost the score despite the 5 run deduction for a wicket lost.

Macey and Keyaan kept the scoreboard ticking over and with a first four for Keyaan. Archie and Jack did the same with each hitting more than one boundary and Cory and Isaac kept the runs going and both were not out at the end and raised the adjusted total to 277 (87 for 2 wickets). Cory and Jack top scored with 13 not out.

Collectively the bowlers then defended that total including taking 5 wickets; one each for Keyaan, Jack, Archie, Isaac and Macey. That aided by the 5 run outs in the field resulted in 10 wickets over all and that ensured the win. Lanercost ended on 240 (90 for 10 wickets). Their last pair managed to add around thirty including the only six of the game.
