Dumfries U11s 258 lost to Lanercost U11s 265
Dumfries under 11s travelled away to Lanercost on Sunday morning but were defeated in yet another final over thriller.
Dumfries batted first and put on a decent total of 258 thanks to a solid last partnership from Munro and Nairn Cubbon. Special mention goes to Captain Billy Morgan for playing some delightful cricket shots in his innings. However dismissals, and the resultant five run deductions, pegged the Dumfries total back.
Opening bowlers Sarah Cox and Thomas Anderson bowled tidily making a good start for Dumfries. Jacob Holden bowled very well in his two overs and showed good improvements. The Lanercost middle order started to put some runs on the board until Cory Dawson came in to the attack and clean bowled three of their batsman including smashing the stumps by snapping one of the bails in half. Two more wickets fell, including one to Jasmine McCulloch who continues to impress, and one to Nairn Cubbon. However a good last pair partnership managed to get Lanercost over the line in yet another final over thriller. With good all round performances from all the team the Player of the Match went to Cory Dawson for his bail-breaking bowling efforts.
