Another successful practice match was held on Friday. Again three teams took part – two of four and one of five. Again it was competitive. This time however it was the team batting last which was victorious.
James Hobman’s team batted first and posted 35 in their allotted 10 overs thanks mainly to Max’s undefeated 14.
Damian Robson’s team could not match that – Max’s fantastic catch at mid-wicket to dismiss the Captain’s boundary-bound shot followed by Aiden’s super over put paid to their hopes.
James Little’s team then smoothly overtook both totals for the loss of 3 wickets and with an over to spare. The girls – Brogan and Katy – laid the foundations and then James (12 not out) guided his five home with good shot selection and running between the wickets. Freddie Duncan and Aiden Goodin didn’t let him down.
Team 1 (James H, Max and the McBurnie brothers) 35 for 0
Team 2 (Fergus, Samuel, Damien and Luke S) 28 all out
Team 3 (James L, Brogan, Katy, Freddie and Aiden) 36 for 3
Top bowlers on the evening were:
Aiden with excellent control and 2 wickets for 5 from his 3 overs, Luke McBurnie with 1 wicket for 9 from his 3 overs and Brogan Dean with a devastating match-winning burst of 2 for 4 in her over-and-a-half.
