Under 13s Come a Close Second

Unavailability robbed the team of 7 players and they took on the visitors with only eight.

In the end it was extras which were the difference. Chasing a reasonably achievable total Dumfries were looking for another fifty or so to add to Munro and Nairn's runs but the youngsters were bowled out 9 runs short of victory with 10 balls left. The extras column read 13. Dumfries had conceded 23!

Bowling first, Dumfries had very kindly been given a couple of fielders, one of whom ran out their main batter with a superb direct hit! So probably justice was done by the result! The other run-out was home-made by a smartly taken Archie/Nairn combination. The bowling and fielding were in the main respectable with Munro the pick of the bowlers.

From a team manager's point of view though the main plus point of the evening was the emergence of Jackie as another person who can do the scoring.
