Carlisle get Revenge despite Cory's Maiden Retiral

Dumfries's exciting victory at Edenside was not to be repeated. It was by no means a poor performance by the Nunholm youngsters but they were outplayed by an impressive Carlisle team.

Batting first, Dumfries for once failed to set a sufficiently demanding target. Rare failures from the openers put the pressure on and when the off-spinner Brown picked up the wicket of Nairn Cubbon the writing was on the wall.

However Cory Dawson will remember this match - promoted to number four he looked and played like he belonged in the top-order - his undefeated 30 including four classy boundaries.

In reply Carlisle eased to victory - their openers displaying composure against bowling that was not shabby in the least.
