Dumfries travelled to Appleby for their opening game of the season on Friday evening
Captain Cameron lost the toss and Dumfries were put in to bat. Openers Ishmael and Bill got off to a positive start with both scoring freely. Bill retired on 30. Isaac scored 13. Lachlan and Cory came together and kept the run rate going with both finding the boundary on numerous occasions. Lachlan also retired on 30, Cory hit 22 and Macey and Angus ran well in the final over to get Dumfries to a total of 121.
Unfortunately for the visiting Dumfries side, Appleby got past that Dumfries total with two batting retirals in the process but only in the final over to complete a great game to start off the season. The bowlers got a good work out with nine used and with Bill performing his all-rounder duties behind the stumps.
Highlight of the game for Coach Drew was the bowling and fielding from debutants Danny, Cameron, Reiff, and Yazdan with a big thank you to the parents for making the trip across the border and providing great support from the sidelines.
