In a great game for both sets of players the U13s fell just 5 runs short of a win at Lanercost on Friday with the match taken to the last over and the last ball.

Lanercost put on fifty before the first dismissal and their innings was dominated by a hard-hitting innings of 33 retired, from just 18 balls, by opener Coulthard. From there Dumfries rallied thanks to 3 wickets by Danny followed by 2 to Lleyton. A run out and then 2 wickets, bowled, in his first 2 balls by Reiff put the home side on 72 for 8. However a last wicket partnership of nearly thirty got them to 101 all out in the last over.
Dumfries also managed fifty for the first wicket between Finley and Jack E in the face of some rapid bowling. Finley retired on 31 and Jack hit 19. Cory was dismissed for 10 but Jack R helped take the score on to 93 before being caught for 20 in the penultimate over. Then a final over of good line and length bowling kept Dumfries at bay as the side finished short on 97 for 3.
