The contest was certainly competitive and it may come as a surprise to many that the winners were Bethan’s team who were victorious over Harith’s by 10 runs.
It was the wicket-taking ability of Jasmine, 1/16, Bethan, 2/14 and Lachlan, 2/23, which was the difference between the sides. Munro and Harith were the wicket-takers in the first innings.
There was a lot of good batting with both Nairn and Munro getting their retirals with a mixture of both classy and powerful shots. Lachlan, 18, just missed out to get his retiral and Bill was looking good, just short of double-figures, when cruelly sent packing.
A bonus was the wicket-keeping of both Bill and Nairn and no dropped catches. The fielding of the parents was mixed but could not be faulted for effort.
Scores:
Bethan’s Beauties – 69 for 3, Harith’s Horrors 59 all out
Player of the match - Lachlan Osmond for his quietly efficient all-round effort
