Penrith got off to the worst possible start when their opener was run-out without facing from the first ball of the match. Bill Middlemiss had the bails off in a flash from the quick and accurate throw. That was the precursor for the rest of the evening, the fielding being sharp and the catches taken.
The bowling was perhaps not as impressive as it against Stainton - with almost half the Penrith runs coming from wides or no-balls. Never-the-less Cory Dawson, Jacob Holden and Jasmine McCulloch only conceded a miserly 9 runs of the bat in taking a wicket each from their combined 9 overs. Bethan Cubbon then ensured an early finish by scything through the tail.
The Dumfries innings did not start well either - Billy Morgan out first ball! But Nairn Cubbon decided not to hang about, hitting the ball hard and riding his luck to retire after 7 overs. Mr Wides then saw his team home for a 7 wicket victory and more than 11 overs to spare.
