On Sunday, Dumfries Women played Stirling Ladies in a league match at Nunholm.
It was an enjoyable and instructive encounter with several playing their first such match for Dumfries and thanks to players from Galloway both sides were at a full complement.
Stirling batted first and scored 128 for 5 in twenty overs. Marie Douglas took two wickets and the experience of Wilkinson resulted in the top score of 42 not out runs.
Dumfries then hit a respectable 85 for 5 in reply. Margaret Miller top scored with 39 with useful contributions added by Amanda Creedon-Bass and Sue Strachan.
For those interested in having some fun with a new team sport the girls’ and women’s practice night is on Monday evenings from 6:30 at Nunholm with beginners very welcome just to come along.
