DumfriesCC/GallowayCC Women 83 all out v Carlton 84 for 5
Dumfries CC/GallowayCC Women and Girls, sponsored by Ashleigh Building, travelled all the way up to Edinburgh to play Carlton CC in the Womens’ Premier League to play their first league match of the season. They arrived at Inch Park to find that the previous days rain had taken its toll.
The toss was lost and the home captain chose to put Dumfries in to bat on a rain affected wicket which was always going to restrict the scoring.
Batters found the conditions really difficult with the ball staying low. Top scorer for D&G was Nicola Brown with 12 not out as they were bowled out for 83. This was always going to be difficult to defend and Carlton eventually chased it down with 6 overs left and 5 wickets down. Bowlers shared the wickets as they strived to make a difference.
It was a long journey to finally get the season underway but spirits are high now that matches have begun and the D&G team look forward to next Sunday with a first home game at Galloway CC in Gatehouse vs Stirling CCC
(Ed: Sadly the opposition have called off for this home game. So it is on to the next fixture which is on Sunday the 9th June, away at Royal High Corstorphine, RHC)
