The T20 match at Nunholm on Sunday morning was followed by a well contested match between the Dumfries Sunday XI and Annan in the afternoon.
Annan batted first and scored 141 for 5 with Kevin Bellis top scoring with 50 retired injured, and Mark Pagan backing him up with 38 as the pair put together a third wicket partnership of over ninety. It took the wily off-spin of Keith Walker to remove Mark Pagan when he was out caught.
Junior Matthew Currie bowled well opening the bowling to claim his two wickets with one in his first over. Fraser Strachan also took a wicket in his first over and Aiden and Adam Collingwood had good bowling spells and the latter was rewarded with his wicket.
The Nunholm side managed to chase that down thanks to a not out effort from opener Niall Alexander with the batting line-up successfully supporting his efforts. However opening bowler Ben Flack dented that reply by taking three wickets in his third and fourth overs and after ten overs the Nunholm side were on 48 for 4.
Fraser Strachan revitalised the response as hit a rapid 28 at more than a run a ball as Alexander admired his five boundaries from the other end. However Mark Pagan induced a back-foot edge to the keeper to set Dumfries back on 80 for 5.
At that stage Alexander was on a score of thirty and he found a good partner in youngster Matthew Currie for the match winning partnership. Alexander was the main run scorer as he moved on to 71 not out, in just sixty balls, however Currie contributed a sterling effort with 18 not out.
The pair shared an unbeaten sixty five run partnership in eleven overs and, as a result, also a share of the Star Refrigeration Man of the Match award to complete a good contest.
