The Dumfries side bowled first and the youthful Aidan Collingwood combined with Dave Strachan. They were asked to bowl their quota straight through, and were tidy without claiming a wicket. A similar combination took over with youth Chris McBride at one end and Mark Irwin at the other. McBride suffered with less than exemplary catching in the field. However skipper Irwin astutely had the right people in the right places for his three wickets.
The scoreboard then started to rattle along as Robert McBride hit 48, aided by 32 from Lee and 27 from Andy Veitch. Fraser Strachan coped with the onslaught to take two wickets but the innings finished on an impressive 177 for 7 in the 35 overs.
In reply Dumfries opted for experience in their opening partnership; Gordon Lyburn and Jeremy Bradshaw were sent in to set up the chase with over 5-an-over required. They did not disappoint despite miserly bowling from Davie Davidson. Youth was then sent in and they kept things going nicely, the classy Chris McBride in particular who finished with 37. Meanwhile Marcus Richardson pushed his all-rounder credentials by taking two wickets.
What had been considered a challenging target was then blown away by Aussie Lojszczyk who, in his final Dumfries appearance, delivered a belligerent six-hitting 55 not out as his reposte to the sixes he conceded when bowling and he was therefore awarded the Lakeland Fluid Power Dumfries Man of the Match.
