The Annan XI batted first and Scott Beveridge proceeded to unleash ten boundaries as he gave the home side opening bowlers a hard time before retiring for 52. However the Dumfries bowlers suffered yet more flak as first Ben Flack with 48, and seven boundaries, and then Finlay Flack with 29 kept the fielders busy. The bowlers fought back amidst this and spinner Scott Muir managed to take five wickets for sixteen. Griffiths came on to take two wickets, Irwin and Lyburn took one each and Annan ended on 166 for 9 off 30 overs.
Dumfries then lost two wickets cheaply but Partick Corkery (23) and James Cox (27) took the score into the seventies at the half way point until both were dismissed in quick succession. Then Josh Forsyth extracted revenge on Beveridge as he proceeded to hit nine boundaries, including five ‘lost-ball’ sixes until he retired for 55.
However that did not settle matters as Gordon Lyburn then had to prevent a Mark Pagan hat-trick with the overs running out. It required the last pair to find the ten runs needed for a one wicket win with one over remaining for a good tight finish on a sunny Sunday.
The Lochmaben Accountancy Services Man of the Match award for Dumfries went to Scott Muir for 5 wickets for just 16 in the face of the many run sprees.
