Croma Vigilant Dumfries welcomed Carlisle to Nunholm for the Eden Valley League fixtures and got back to winning ways following a strong team performance.

Dumfries were put into bat and openers Adam Malik and James little established a strong base for the team,. When Little did fall, James Hobman was a solid partner for Malik who went on to score 50 before retiring. The lower order got into the action with valuable runs late on by Max Corbett-Byers, Sean Thornely and Callum Reynolds-Lewis. Dumfries pushed the total to a competitive 154-6.

Carlisle's innings got off to a quick start as the opening bowling attack of Rory Thornely and Callum Reynolds-Lewis failed to hit their spots. Eventually though their line and length returned and the pair took out the top 3 batsmen in quick succession, Reynolds-Lewis (2) and Rory Thornely (1). The bowling changes were made with Vaughn Staples and Andrew Reed coming on and whilst Staples spin had the batsmen in trouble, the chances were not taken. At the other end Reed, bowling his dibbly-dobs was slowing the run rate down and that pressure told as he picked up a wicket. The final bowling change of Sean Thornely and Max Corbett-Byers had the run rate slowed down and Carlisle were looking at 8 an over to seal victory. This pressure told as both Sean Thornely and Corbett-Byer picked up two wickets each leaving Carlisle to finish 39 runs short of the Dumfries total.
