Runs flow in the Dumfries v Wigton Sunday Clash

A young Sunday Dev XI competed hard at Wigton but lost by 5 wickets after a hitting an impressive 189 for 3.

Max Corbett-Byers was the pick of the batsmen and was able to play his customary flowing style against the Wigton bowling attack with a score of 65 and only out on the very last ball. Skipper Mat Williams led from the front to build a base for other players to play around with a fine fifty retired and James Hobman scored a quickfire 25. The score of 189 w2as very good for such a young team required to play due to the seniors playing in the South of Scotland T20 final.

The bowlers worked hard against the home sides Wigton strong batting line up. James Little, Aiden Goodin and Jacob Taylor each picking up wickets throughout the innings. The fielding had ups and downs, but the positives saw two good run outs to put pressure back on Wigton and the catch of the day from James Little who took a missile of a catch at deep square leg. Wigton were able to creep over the line for victory in the last couple overs, but this was an excellent display from a teams averaging under 20 years of age.
