The Dumfries Sunday XI returned to winning ways at the weekend after amassing a large first innings total at Keswick.
The Dumfries openers of Tommy McGrath and Mat Williams set the tone with a century opening partnership at well over a run a ball. Three batsmen scored fifties. McGrath retired with a characteristically brisk 52 not out. Williams also retired on 50 as did Jerry Goodin batting at six. In between them there with twenties from James Little, Andrew Reed and James Cox hit 34 not out. That amounted to a challenging final tally of 287 for 4 on a fast outfield from the allotted 36 overs.
That target proved too much. Shaw top scored with 30 opening and Fleet hit 26 but the bowlers shared wickets as well. James Hobman, Trevor Newport, Aiden Goodin took two wickets, Hyder Hussain one, and James Little finished off with three. Keswick totalled 123 in the 28th of the alloted 36 overs.
For Dumfries the Barbours' Player of the Match award went to Tommy Grath for his opening onslaught.
