The Youth side were more successful in keeping the runs down from the last encounter with the Health Pros reaching 100 all out off the last ball. Robert Orr starred with the bat and retired with 25. Mat added his 25 retired. The catching highlight was James Hobman safely pouching a skier at deep square off the bowling of Aiden Goodin, but there were a total of 6 run outs contributed by the Health Pros.
After some rain the second innings resumed with local rules and the covers in place (2 for the covers hit). Adam Malik powered his way to 25 retired and Max Corbett-Byers contended with the gathering stygian gloom to reach 26 retired. However the runs and remaining deliveries equation remained tight.
It came down to eight runs needed off the final over and with the batters struggling to try and spot the pink ball between the dazzling glare of a truly luminous orange scoreboard and the floodlights ablaze at the tennis courts. However Doctor Dave came through in the clutch for the Health Pros with a vital wicket bowled and with just enough runs to spare.
Thanks to the Health Pros for another entertaining midweek fixture and also with a message to pass on to our juniors "appreciation for our opponents. Nice to see youngsters playing the game properly. Good attitude and some good skills on show."
Maybe reduce from 20 overs next time?!
