Dumfries took a Fifteens’ team to Ferguslie on Tuesday for a 40-over match and came away second best but with several reputations enhanced.
James Hobman and Aiden Goodin were the pick of the bowlers – their 5 for 58 from 14 overs compared very favourably with the other 20 overs which returned 1 for 140.
Alasdair Little, Fergus Bainbridge and Adam Malik were the stand-out fielders – Adam’s diving catch at point particularly impressive. Lewis Fergusson at times looked as if he’d been keeping wicket forever.
Adam’s batting was a class above the others but never-the-less Damian Robson showed his potential in an opening stand of 62, Aiden Goodin kept up his season’s progress, Alasdair Little made the most of his time in the middle and James Hobman showed that he can bat as well as bowl.
Captained well by Fergus the youngsters can be reasonably happy.
