Our U16s travelled to Ferguslie for a T20 Scottish Cup game and were defeated despite a great effort in the field.

Coach report

On Friday evening the under 16s travelled to Ferguslie in Paisley for a T20 Scottish Cup game again with only nine players.

Batting first, the innings could not have got off to a worse possible start. After 4 overs Dumfries found themselves 3 wickets down for 9 runs. Max Corbett-Byers and James Hobman steadied the ship, batting sensibly, rotating the strike and putting away anything loose. Dumfries ended on 73 all out. Max finished top scorer with 37.

Needing to start well the second innings got off to a perfect start with James Hobman taking out their top batter clean bowled first ball. We continued to bowl well and field well. But in the end, despite the great effort in the field, we fell short and Ferguslie totalled 74 for 4.

Another 20 runs to the total and I think we could have won the game. The pleasing thing for the coach and the spectators was that despite the lowish total we never gave up, and with a wee bit more self belief that we can complete with these teams we will start winning these games.

Onwards and upwards team. Keep up the hard work.
