Dumfries U16s became the U16 Scottish Cup Winners, for the first time, with a big win by 74 runs over Aberdeenshire U16s in the Cup Final at Kelburne Cricket Club on Sunday.

Dumfries were asked to bat first and hit a huge score of 173 for the loss of two wickets in the T20 match. All the top five batters contributed with scores from Bill Middlemiss, Lachlan Osmond, a fifty retired by Munro Cubbon, and not out scores of 46 and 27 by Billy Morgan and Nairn Cubbon respectively as they accelerated rapidly to a winning total.

Then opening bowlers Finley Trigg and Lachlan Osmond removed the Aberdeenshire top five, taking two and three wickets to set back the chase at 50 for 5. Captain Munro Cubbon took the next four and Jasmine McCulloch claimed the winning wicket to dismiss Aberdeenshire for 99 to complete a set of impressive team performances against more fancied teams in their Cup run.
