Dumfries under 15s travelled to play Carlisle last night. Only managing to muster 6 players the spirit in the camp was surprisingly high. Carlisle kindly supplied us with 3 really good cricketers to make up our numbers.
After winning the toss Dumfries elected to bat first. The openers got off to a quick start with Aiden Goodin hitting 2 boundaries off the first 3 balls. Max Corbett-Byers batting at 3 showed that he could play all round the ground and retired on 33. All the rest of the batters chipped in with some runs. Finishing on 117 Dumfries knew they had to start well in the field.
Start well we did with Harith Hassan bowling 3 tight overs in an opening partnership with Katy Anderson which gave the team the platform to build from. Stand out bowler had to be Niamh Muir for her 2 for 7, bowling with good control with a wet ball and also Cory Dawson who bowled two very tight overs but his third over did not get the luck he deserved with the Carlisle power hitter slogging him for a couple of boundaries.
An overall top performance from the 15s on a night when it was extremely difficult to play good cricket. Great result and plenty to work on.
