New Players Wanted
Want to join in for 2019? We are looking for new players, of any age, seniors and juniors, male and female, boys and girls so please direct any interest for the new season our way.

Pre-Season Indoor Nets
Indoor nets will take place at Dumfries Academy on Friday March the 15th and the 22nd from 7-9pm. This is before the senior training session moves to outdoor nets after the clocks change starting on Tuesday evenings at 6:15pm from April the 2nd.

Saturday Fixtures are online
The Saturday 2019 season fixtures for the firsts (Croma Vigilant Dumfries) in the WDCU First Division and the seconds (Nunholm) in the WDCU Premier Reserve League are up online here on the club website.

We say Saturday fixtures but there is one Sunday fixture for the seconds in August which is away at Drumpellier on August the 11th. Deadline day negotiations were required to avoid the seconds playing two of their fixtures on a Sunday. There appear to have been considerable difficulties in scheduling this season’s fixtures in the leagues and players will need to be aware of a number of anomalies this year.

This Saturday (16th Feb) is Race Night
Make sure you come along the Race Night on Saturday. Bring along friends and family for a fun night. Attendance at the event is free. All Sports Club members and their guests are very welcome. We are raising money for junior kit so please come along and enjoy all the fun of the evening. More details here

Current Cricket
Monday Junior Cricket

Junior cricket continues on Mondays 5-6pm at St Josephs Sports Hall with the All Stars (5-8pm) and the Kwik Cricketers (9-12pm) alternating weeks. After the much viewed and talked about ‘Cubbons’ run-out’ and the third umpire decision at the Kwik Cricket last Monday (see here!!!!) the All Stars are up next on Monday, the 11th Feb.

Friday Indoor Cricket
This continues on Fridays 7-9pm at St Josephs Sports Hall and players and newcomers, both youth and seniors, are encouraged to come along and get into the swing of a new season. It was great to see Charlotte come along as a result of the Soft Ball tournament and she and Harith made impressive debuts on Friday in a tense final ball finish. The last of these current indoor cricket sessions is scheduled for Friday 22nd February.

Saturday Outdoor Training
The Colts don their beanies and train on Saturday mornings from 11-1pm. This is hard ball training or as an introduction to hard ball cricket. Just come along or contact us as some newcomers have done already.

Successful Indoor Women’s Soft Ball Cricket Festival
A week ago on Friday saw the Club’s first indoor Women’s Soft Ball Festival. With a good turnout of around twenty participants including new faces, there was plenty of fun action orchestrated by Rosy. Keep an eye out for our next one. The evening's details are here

Well done Tigger and the Squash Team
Our 1s Captain, Tigger, and the Club Squash team had a successful evening last Wednesday with a 5-0 win to leap-frog their opponents Western2 and lead Division 2 in the West of Scotland Squash League (league table here). Wednesdays, when at home, are a good chance to see some class squash action if you haven’t seen it close up before.

Perks of our Sports Club
We are proud of the club’s multi-sport opportunities and there are many advantages of membership of Dumfries Cricket Club and hence of Dumfries Sports Club.

One of these is that Dumfries Sports Club members can enter a ballot for Wimbledon tickets for which the Tennis section qualifies. If interested please contact Andrew (Polly) on the cricket committee to find out how to go about the process.

Watch the Scotland Men live this week
The men’s Scotland cricket play their first competitive cricket of 2019 starting on Wednesday with T20 matches against the Netherlands, Ireland and Oman in T20 and three 50 ODI matches against Oman. You can watch live streaming on Wednesday morning and follow the progress through Cricket Scotland.

Congratulations to Rosy
Speaking of Cricket Scotland, the Club has well deserved congratulations for our Rosy - "Cricket Scotland is delighted to confirm that Rosy Ryan’s post is now a full-time one. As well as continuing to have a prominent role within the development of the Women’s and Girls’ game, Rosy will be able to devote more time to helping with the growth of the game within the West Region."
