Dumfries Cricket4 Jul - 07:00

A Wahid 'century', a title win and our Girls Only Dynamos sessions have started.

Photo: the 1s reduced Clydesdale to 62 for 6 with Hobbo's catch

We have summer junior programmes over the holidays as well as our regular weekly sessions which continue as usual over the holidays.

Free Girls Dynamos Sessions have started
These started on Thursday evening and Activators Sue and Macey managed to navigate the downpour (typical! :) ) to provide a fun start. The girls were happy to take away their own free kit too. It was great to see new girls at the club and we are looking for some more to join in.

Sign up online for free weekly Girls Only Dynamos sessions (ages 8-12) on Thursday evenings around the summer holidays (3rd July to 21st August). The details are here.

These are open to all and free for participants, through the use of a Voucher Code, and online registration is required. So come along or do pass on the invitation to a friend or someone else who might be interested. You can view our Girls Dynamos video on facebook HERE.

Sign up for Cricket Summer Camps - from 15th July
Are you one of our Star cricketers? Have you booked in for our summer camp for ages 5-8, which is free for our Stars Programme participants.

Details of our Cricket Summer Camps for ages 5-8, and ages 9-13 can be found here.

These are free for 2025 Cricket Club junior members and also open to all interested. However, places are limited so registration is required and can be done using our online form.

Weekend Cricket
The 1s took wickets to make it difficult for Clydesdale but a sixty-run seventh wicket partnership got the visitors over the line for a four-wicket win. The 2s lost the toss, were put in on a difficult wicket, and struggled to 61 all out. The bowlers too made things difficult for East Renfrewshire 2s but they also lost by 4 wickets to lose their unbeaten record. The Sunday XI had 2 wins out of 2 over Langholm and Galloway in a T20 competition at Langholm. Wahid scored a unbeaten century, well, 50 retired not out in each game. See our weekend report here

And there was a title win on Sunday! That was by the combined Watsonian/Dumfries side in the Scottish Women's Premier League after a 6 wicket win in the final game to stay unbeaten. Article here .

Representative Cricket
Well done to Jasmine, who played for Scotland Emerging Girls vs Scotland Women A at Dollar this week and, following on as the Sunday XI top wicket taker at Langholm, she again bowled well in perhaps her longest spell ever of seven overs and claimed a wicket.

And Munro and Nairn played for West U17s v East u17s on Sunday with Munro bowling a good opening spell of 4 overs, 2 maidens 1 for 13.

Good luck to Chris (McBride) who is with Scotland Men in the Netherlands in an ICC T20 World Cup Qualifier. The top 2 teams go the T20 World Cup and their first game is on Sunday.
