Weekend Cricket
Some more rain. The 2s game at Anniesland was cancelled in the morning. However the 1s managed a 29 run (DLS) rain affected win against Drumpellier at home in the aftenoon with James top scoring with 62 and Al helpfully taking 3 wickets in a over. Read the report here. And in the WPL on Sunday, Watsonians/Dumfries beat Carlton Women by 25 runs.

Umpire Availabiity - Message from the WDCU
See wdcu.co.uk/umpiring-availability/

"We are writing to inform you about a now critical issue currently affecting our cricket community within the Western District Cricket Union (WDCU) and across all regions. There is a significant shortage of umpires, which is impacting not only WDCU but all regions."

"Courses and resources are available for those wishing to take up umpiring and we as a region are keen to point out that one solution being discussed for the future may be to revert to a former rule which meant clubs who required umpires were obliged to have club members who were active umpires."

"However, it is important to highlight that one of the contributing factors to this shortage is player behaviour. Instances of disrespect and unsportsmanlike conduct towards umpires have led to many experienced officials stepping down from their roles. This is a serious concern that needs immediate attention from all clubs."

As a club, a reminder that we require that all our players exhibit respectful and sportsmanlike behaviour towards umpires at all times. And for those ever asked to umpire for us, at whatever level, their starting point is the ICC Umpire Foundation Course which is a free online course for parents, facilitators, and volunteers.

Representative Cricket
Orla returned to representative cricket last week with selection for Scotland Women 'A' and she opened the bowling in game 1 against the NACC team at Heriots on Friday plus Niamh scored a not out fifty in game 2 and with 2 wins the outcome.

Chris (McBride) captained Scotland 'A' against Nepal in Dundee and last week hit 72 off 58 balls in Scotland's win in the first fixture and also produced this great catch.
